Tumble

I confess, I am a multitasker. I like to get more than one thing done at a time. I may cook and talk on the phone at the same time. Along with feeding the dogs, gathering the eggs, and vacuuming. No wonder our meals are often a bit,  ahumm,  shall we say "over done." This habit tends to spill over into my prayer and worship time too. I am all about praying while driving to work, taking the dogs for a walk, doing house work, or gardening, all of those and more. Thing is, I am pretty sure that is not the way God wants me to be when I am talking to Him. Of course sometimes it is fine, but not always, not as a habit.
So check this out, this fact was driven home to me somewhat abruptly a bit ago. I was out walking the dogs, a daily thing around our house, and praying while I did it, also a daily thing. My son Thomas was on my heart and I was wrestling with God in prayer over him when all the sudden... Umm, did I ever tell you I am not very clever on my feet? Ya, sad but true, I am a klutz with a capital K. Anyway I am deep in prayer, walking along, when a small stone, I mean a really small stone, we are talking pea size here, rolled under my foot and I went down to my hands and knees like I had been unexpectly pushed from behind. Now I am not saying God pushed me down, but the fact is there I was on my hands and knees and He whispered to me, "stay here." "This is where I want you to be as you pray today." So I stayed. And I have been trying to make prayer that is nothing but prayer a part of my worship life. Sure I still multitask some, but when there is something that really needs Gods attention, it sure makes sense if I give it my full attention too. Here's hoping God doesn't give you a stumble and a tumble as you are praying, but if He does, enjoy it.
